AquaSur International Fair 2014 is the framework chosen by Abastible to unveil the main solutions developed for salmon farming, such as the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the operations to achieve significant sustainability standards.
In Puerto Montt, this week the company will provide details on the concept of Nautigas, and the innovations that have enabled it to achieve a market share of 60 per cent in the activity, concentrated mainly in the region of Los Lagos.
It is a series of implementations that run on LPG, a clean type of energy that poses an efficient consumption:
  • Outboard motors for ships;
  • Waste incinerators;
  • Power systems and cogeneration ones.
As reported by Datos Sur, these innovations are beneficial to the economy of salmon farming firms in the area and to their sustainable operation.
In the case of Salmones Magallanes, its operativity issue was sustainably solved, such as by controlling the water temperature of the river Hollemberg. There, the company has concentrated its entire smolt production since last February.
This fair, which takes place from 22 to 25 October in Puerto Montt, is one of the most important worldwide in the field of aquaculture industry. It brings together entrepreneurs, service providers and others in the industry, to become aware of the latest trends, new technology and innovations.
The Fair organizers expect the attendance of over 19,000 visitors, who will have the opportunity to see the novelties of Abastible, such as incineration systems and water heating, as well as microturbines for cogeneration of electricity and heat, especially from LPG combustion.
