Animal nutrition and fish feed multinational company, Nutreco, announced its financial results in 2014, indicating an improvement in line with its expectations.
Last year’s revenue was EUR 5.3 billion (USD 6.06 billion), which shows an increase of 0.3 per cent compared to 2013.

The Dutch producer’s EBITA grew to EUR 266.4 million (USD 305 million), 3.9 per cent higher than last year (EUR 256.3 million).
Knut Nesse, company’s CEO highlighted, “We made organisational improvements to enhance our leadership position in animal nutrition and fish feed and invested in our global people and talent management programme”.
Operating companies in Ecuador and Egypt drove up fish feed EBITA by 2.8 per cent to EUR 134.3 million (USD154, million) compared to EUR 130.6 million in the last financial performance.
Salmon feed volume increased in the first six month mainly due to favourable growing conditions, especially in Norway, compared to the exceptionally cold seawater temperatures in 2013.
Nutreco attributed the lower EBITA verified in the second half of the year to lower sales in Norway (owing to the impact of Marine Harvest entry into salmon feed), partly offset by good performances in Ecuador, Egypt, Vietnam and Japan.
In addition, it informed that Trials of the MicroBalance concept for shrimp feed have shown positive outcomes and have significantly reduced fishmeal inclusion rates.
Nutreco also plans to launch a commercial plan, which will be undertaken in 2015.
The company, listed on the NYSE Euronext stock exchange in Amsterdam, proposed a total dividend of EUR 1.05 (USD 1.20), whereas in 2013 it was EUR 1.00 (USD 1.14).
